Cala Bona is a small coastal resort village located on the eastern coast of the island of Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, Spain. It lies within the municipality of Son Servera, in the comarca of Llevant.
The name Cala Bona translates from Catalan as "good cove", a reference to the sheltered natural harbour around which the settlement developed. Originally a modest fishing village, Cala Bona evolved during the second half of the 20th century into a tourist destination, largely as a result of the expansion of neighbouring Cala Millor.
Cala Bona is situated approximately 70 kilometres east of the island's capital, Palma, and lies immediately north of Cala Millor, with which it forms a continuous urban area along the coastline. The village is bordered to the north by the more rugged and less developed stretch of coast leading towards Costa de los Pinos and Cap des Pinar.
The historical core of the village centres on its small fishing harbour, which remains in use and retains a limited fleet of traditional llaüts. A seafront promenade connects Cala Bona with Cala Millor, running along several small sandy and pebble coves.
The local economy is dominated by tourism, with hotels, apartments, restaurants, bars and shops making up the majority of businesses. The main tourist season runs from April to October, with peak activity in July and August. Fishing continues on a small scale, and fresh fish is sold locally.
The climate of Cala Bona is classified as Mediterranean (Köppen: Csa), characterised by hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Average summer temperatures typically range between 25 °C and 30 °C, while winter temperatures rarely fall below 8 °C.
Notable nearby attractions include the Safari Zoo at Sa Coma, the caves of Coves del Drac and Coves dels Hams near Porto Cristo, the archaeological site of Son Servera, and the Punta de n'Amer nature reserve, which separates the Cala Millor–Cala Bona conurbation from Sa Coma to the south.
Cala Bona is served by regional road connections linking it to Son Servera, Manacor and the Ma-15 highway towards Palma. The nearest airport is Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI).
